Since its emergence, LED displays have attracted widespread attention. With the continuous progress of installation technology in recent years, they have been widely recognized and applied across various industries. The production and maintenance of LED displays require professional expertise. So how to achieve high-definition display performance? Four essential factors are required: first, full HD video source material; second, a display that supports full HD resolution; third, reducing the pixel pitch of the LED display; fourth, matching the LED display with a video processor. At present, full-color LED displays are also evolving toward ultra-high definition.
1. Improve the Contrast Ratio of Full-Color LED Displays
Contrast ratio is one of the core factors affecting visual effect. Generally, the higher the contrast, the clearer and sharper the image, and the more vivid the colors. High contrast greatly enhances image clarity, detail performance and grayscale layering.
When displaying text and videos with strong black-and-white contrast, full-color LED displays with high contrast excel in black-and-white differentiation, clarity and picture integrity. Contrast has an even greater impact on dynamic video performance. Since dynamic images feature fast switching between light and dark areas, a higher contrast makes it easier for the human eye to distinguish such transitions.
In fact, improving the contrast of full-color LED screens mainly relies on boosting brightness and reducing the surface reflectivity of the screen. However, higher brightness is not always better. Excessively high brightness will be counterproductive, shortening the service life of the LED display and causing light pollution — a widely discussed issue that negatively affects the surrounding environment and people’s vision. Special technical treatment on LED panels and lamp beads can lower surface reflectivity and further enhance the contrast of full-color LED displays.
2. Raise the Grayscale Level of Full-Color LED Displays
Grayscale level refers to the distinguishable brightness gradient from the darkest to the brightest within a single primary color of a full-color LED screen. The higher the grayscale level, the richer and more gorgeous the colors; conversely, the displayed colors will be monotonous with simple gradation changes.
Improving grayscale level can greatly enhance color depth and make the layered performance of image colors increase geometrically. High-end LED displays adopt 14bit~16bit grayscale control, enabling image layering, detail resolution and overall display effect to reach world-class standards. With the development of hardware technology, LED grayscale precision will continue to be upgraded to a higher level.
3. Reduce the Pixel Pitch of Full-Color LED Displays
Reducing pixel pitch is an effective way to improve definition. The smaller the pixel pitch, the finer and more delicate the display picture.
This solution relies heavily on mature core technology and requires relatively high investment costs, resulting in higher product prices. Fortunately, the market is now developing rapidly toward fine-pitch LED displays.
4. Combine Full-Color LED Display with Video Processor
LED video processors adopt advanced algorithms to optimize poor-quality image signals, performing de-interlacing, edge sharpening, motion compensation and other professional processing to enrich image details and upgrade overall picture quality.
Powerful image scaling algorithms ensure that the scaled video image retains maximum clarity and grayscale layering. In addition, the video processor is equipped with abundant image adjustment functions to fine-tune brightness, contrast and grayscale, ensuring the screen outputs soft and ultra-clear visuals.
