Safety Inspection Requirements for LED Sky Screen Project Engineering

1. Foundation Inspection

Check cracks at the joints between steel columns and the ground of the LED sky screen project. Verify whether there are settlement cracks, deformation and displacement at the connection parts of concrete-filled steel tubular columns and the ground. Confirm the upper structure operates normally without obvious inclination, displacement or settlement-induced cracks.

2. Component Layout and Section Dimension Inspection

Investigate the layout of all project components. Select 8 concrete-filled steel tubular columns and 8 pipe truss members for section dimension measurement using steel tapes, vernier calipers, ultrasonic thickness gauges and other tools. All measured dimensions comply with design specifications.

3. Camber and Verticality Inspection of Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Columns

Adopt prism-free total station to test camber and verticality of 8 selected steel columns. The measured camber deviation ranges from 1mm to 5mm, and verticality deviation is between 0.9mm and 20.6mm, all below the limit values specified in Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Steel Structures (GB50205-2001).

4. Dry Film Thickness Inspection of Coatings on Pipe Trusses and Steel Members

Use TT260 coating thickness gauge to test anti-corrosion dry film thickness on 30 selected pipe truss members. In accordance with GB50205-2001, the standard thickness is 150μm for outdoor use and 125μm for indoor use, with a permissible deviation of -25μm. All tested samples meet the requirements.

5. Weld Quality Inspection

Digital ultrasonic flaw detectors are used to inspect 48 butt welds and fillet welds. All tested welds reach Grade II weld quality standard.

6. Visual Quality, Damage and Water Seepage Inspection

Carry out overall inspection including connector rusting, steel member wrinkling, sagging, peeling, re-rusting, cracks and structural deformation, as well as water seepage conditions.
To sum up, construction quality, welding technology, corrosion, deformation and uneven foundation settlement are major safety risks affecting LED sky screen structures. Scientific and systematic structural appraisal and analysis are highly required. To ensure stable and safe operation, routine maintenance together with professional regular inspections shall be implemented, and timely troubleshooting shall be carried out to achieve optimal maintenance throughout the whole service life.
